BMW signs two luxury drivers to develop Razgatlioglu’s M1000RR

BMW has announced the signing of two well-known faces for the development of its flagship machine, the M1000RR. The names chosen by the Bavarian firm are Sylvain Guintoli and Bradley Smithboth very well-known pilots on the world scene.

The new BMW standard bearers will have the objective of fully developing the M1000RR of which Toprak Razgatlioglu has just taken over relatively recently, and together with Michael van der Mark.

On the one hand there is Guintoli, who found himself in a delicate situation after the closure of Suzuki’s operations in a large part of motor racing. The 41-year-old Frenchman has experience in many motorcycle competitions, and let us remember that he has been a two-time world champion, winning the WorldSBK in 2014 and the FIM EWC Endurance in 2021. Guintoli is also remembered for his time on the MotoGP grid.

In addition to being a developer, he will continue competing in one of his favorite disciplines, endurance. Guintoli will continue participating in the FIM EWC with the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Teamwhich will soon announce the rest of the lineup.

On the other side of the box will be Bradley Smith, a well-known MotoGP name. The British rider started in 125cc to earn his way to another two seasons in Moto2, where he then made the jump to MotoGP in 2013. He remained active there until 2020, and has been complementing it with other activities such as endurance races.. Without going any further, he won the legendary Suzuka 8 Hours in 2015.

Particularly in Superbikes, where the Bavarians have made a significant financial effort to acquire the services of Toprak Razgatlioglu with whom they will try to kill the ghosts of the past and turn the M1000RR into a competitive motorcycle.
