New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood actress Asha Parekh, 79, has been selected for the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. The ‘Dada Saheb Phalke Award’, the highest award in the film industry, is given annually to an artiste who has achieved lifetime achievement in the field. This award is given during the National Awards ceremony. The Dada Saheb Phalke Award for the year 2019 was given to actor Rajinikanth.

In this case, the award for the year 2020 was announced yesterday. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has announced that the legendary Bollywood actress Asha Parekh will be conferred with the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. The award will be presented at the National Awards ceremony in New Delhi tomorrow. She made her debut in 1959 with Naseer Hussain’s Dil Deke Deko opposite actor Shammi Kapoor. Asha Parekh, who has acted in 95 films so far, has also produced and directed some films.
