Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL)
The Federal Police (PF) reported that former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) received at least 18 high-value gifts from authorities in other countries. The information was revealed on Thursday (31) by Jornal Nacional.
The list of gifts to the former president is part of a 1,909-page document. This inventory was organized by the Adjunct Cabinet for Historical Documentation of the Presidency of the Republic.
The complete list of gifts brings more details on an amount of 9,158 items, received by Bolsonaro during his four years in office. These are varied items, from caps and T-shirts to objects of very high value, such as watches, jewelry and sculptures.
The investigators asked the cabinet for explanations about 18 items considered to be of greater value. Ten of these items were returned to the Brazilian State in March of this year.
Among them, the Rolex watch with diamonds and the two sets of jewelry that took Bolsonaro, Michelle, former aide Mauro Cid and others to the simultaneous testimony to the PF on Thursday.
However, the inventory lists 45 watches, of different values, that Jair Bolsonaro received as a gift during his term. Another watch, from the Patek Philippe brand, is not on the official list. According to the Federal Police, the piece was given to the then president during a trip to Bahrain.
The ex-president’s defense reported that it will verify whether the gifts cited by the Federal Police are actually in the warehouse at Nelson Piquet’s farm. The lawyers, however, said they were unaware of the existence of the Patek Philippe luxury watch.
