Stanislas Guerini, Minister of Transition and Civil Service, announced this Saturday March 9 the establishment of bonuses “for all agents who will be on the ground” during the Olympic Games.

Open the tap to avoid strikes. This appears to be the government’s strategy in the run-up to the Olympics. Guest of franceinfo this Saturday March 9, Stanislas Guerini, Minister of Transformation and Public Service, announced the establishment of bonuses for all civil servants mobilized during the event. Their amount will be “of 500, 1000 and 1500 euros”specified the minister without detailing on what criteria they will be paid.

Stanislas Guerini also announced that 10,000 universal service employment vouchers (Cesu) would be paid to civil servants mobilized during the Olympics, up to 200 euros per child as a general rule and 350 euros per child for single-parent families. “We are going to set up nursery places, reserve 1000 places in holiday centers to be able to further help families who send children to camp”he added.

These measures are in addition to the additional 1,900 euros promised by Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, to law enforcement agents mobilized this summer around the Olympic sites.

Several calls for strikes already launched

The announcement by the Minister of the Civil Service comes two days after calls for a strike launched by the CGT and FO. “The whole country hopes that there will be no strike during the Olympic Games, said the minister. It has to be a moment of success for the nation.”

“We want the government to take immediate measures to ensure the success of the Games, for which the CGT has been working for years, Sophie Binet, general secretary of the CGT, declared on Friday. To do this, our warnings must finally be heard and the games must be prepared from a social point of view.

For Stanislas Guerini, “the position of the CGT is not that of all public service unions, not one has announced to me their intention to strike during the Olympics.” As for the Olympic authorities, it is time for optimism. Asked about the social climate in France and whether the International Olympic Committee (IOC) feared strikes, Pierre-Olivier Beckers, president of the IOC Coordination Commission, responded in the negative, because “the dialogue is open”. And added, during a press conference given in Paris this Friday: “We are very aware that solutions will be found.”
