Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk said yesterday that the effective protection of Poland’s borders with Russia and Belarus is a question of Poland’s existence, Polish news agency PAP reported.

Tusk spoke to journalists after the meeting with his Norwegian counterpart, Jonas Gar Støre, during which they discussed border security, BTA reported.

“Perhaps this does not apply to Norway now, but for Poland the effective protection of the borders with Russia and Belarus is not just a matter of migration policy, but a matter of ‘to be or not to be’ for the Polish state,” Tusk said.

“That’s why every experience will be valuable for us, as well as its exchange with Norway”, added the Prime Minister.

He added that Poland, in addition to its border with the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, also borders Belarus, which “actually implements the migration policy of [руския президент Владимир ]Putin”.

Tusk said he was looking for solutions that would allow “an effective response to the migration aggression orchestrated by Moscow and Minsk” while upholding the “principles of humanitarian law” because people trying to cross the border are also victims of Putin and the president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
