At a meeting on the development of the space industry, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a federal project to create a Russian orbital station (ROS).

As the head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, noted, this is the right decision, since postponing the start of the creation of the ROS to 2024 is fraught with a loss of competence in manned spaceflight.

“Against the backdrop of heated discussions and reasonable criticism expressed at the meeting, the decision made means not only the approval of the federal project, but also the allocation of the necessary funding, as well as the establishment of key parameters and indicators for the successful implementation of this ambitious task,” TASS quotes Borisov as saying.

He also pointed out that the development of the Russian manned program is critical as the ISS expires by 2030.
