Hong Kong actor Bosco Wong secured his first Best Actor award after 26 years in the entertainment industry, finally earning recognition for his talent and dedication.

The 45-year-old Wong was honored for his compelling portrayal of Koo Chiu-wah, a mischievous character in The Queen of News 2. He also took home the trophy for Greater Bay Area’s favourite TVB Actor for his work on the series. The emotional weight of the moment was palpable as longtime friends and mentors Michael Miu and Wayne Lai announced his name at the ceremony. By the time he reached the stage, Wong’s face was streaked with tears.
“After winning the award for the Greater Bay Area, I thought I wouldn’t get to come up on stage again.So my speech was all over the place,” Wong confessed, overwhelmed with emotion.
he playfully admitted he even “forgot to thank” TVB chairman Thomas Hui for “investing so much time and money” in the series, acknowledging the challenges facing the television industry.
“I think I am a very lucky person,” Wong said, wiping away tears with a tissue offered by Wayne Lai. “Ever as I debuted, I’ve met many great seniors.”
Wong expressed gratitude to his mentors, including Miu and Lai, for thier unwavering support, even when he was a “very naughty” person. He also acknowledged TVB assistant general manager Virginia Lok, affectionately calling her his “other mother,” and TVB executive director Catherina Tsang, whom he said had “scolded [him] for so many years,” adding, “Every word that you said was meant to make me a better person.”
What was Bosco Wong’s first major breakthrough role? Wong first gained notable recognition in 2005 for his performance in the TVB comedy Wars Of In-Laws, which earned him the Most Improved Male Artiste trophy at the TVB Anniversary Awards that year.
He later secured his first Best Supporting Actor award in 2008 for Moonlight resonance II. Prior to this historic win,Wong had been nominated for Best Actor four times-in 2012 for witness Insecurity,2014 for The Ultimate Addiction,2017 for Two Steps from Heaven,and 2021 for The Impostor.
