Tom Brady Eyes Bundesliga Star Marvin Ducksch for Birmingham City
A compelling offer from football icon Tom Brady could see Werder Bremen striker Marvin Ducksch move to Birmingham City, despite currently being sidelined with an injury. The pursuit highlights Birmingham’s ambitious plans under Brady’s partial ownership and signals potential upheaval for the German club.
Werder Bremen’s leading goalscorer is currently unavailable for pre-season preparations due to a muscle injury sustained on July 7th, halting his participation in the first training session. This setback coincides with growing speculation surrounding his future, with multiple clubs expressing interest in the 31-year-old forward.
Brady’s Birmingham: A Rising Force in English Football
Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, became a minority owner of Birmingham City in August 2023. Since then, the club has invested approximately €35 million in new players, fueling their ascent from the third division to the Championship. Brady’s vision extends beyond mere investment; he aims to propel Birmingham City directly into the Premier League, a league they last competed in during the 2010/11 season.
A senior official stated that Brady has been actively involved in identifying potential targets to bolster the squad, and Ducksch has emerged as a key priority. The former NFL star reportedly engaged in direct conversations with Ducksch to persuade him of a move to England, and a discussion with Birmingham City’s chief coach, Chris Davies, has already taken place.
Ducksch’s Performance and Potential Transfer Fee
Over the past two seasons, Ducksch has consistently proven his goal-scoring prowess for Werder Bremen. He netted eight goals last season and an impressive twelve goals in the prior campaign. In addition, the three-time German international has delivered a strong twelve goals overall.
Werder Bremen appears willing to allow Ducksch to depart, but they are seeking a transfer fee of between €2 to €3 million for their star attacker. Ducksch’s current contract with the Bundesliga club extends until June 30, 2026.
Competition for Ducksch’s Signature
Birmingham City isn’t the only club vying for Ducksch’s services. Greek first division side PAOK Saloniki has also expressed significant interest. Furthermore, Orlando City from the American MLS is reported to have already submitted a formal offer for the forward.
The situation remains fluid, but Brady’s personal involvement and Birmingham City’s ambitious trajectory could prove to be decisive factors in attracting the injured, yet highly sought-after, Marvin Ducksch to the English Championship.
