The group of Brazilians awaiting repatriation in Gaza Strip were authorized this Friday, the 10th, to leave Palestinian territory. With the reopening of the so-called “Rafah crossing”, Gaza’s border with the Egypt in the city of Rafah on Thursday, the 9th, a new list of foreigners was released with the inclusion of 34 people, made up of Brazilians and their families, who are awaiting return to the country. The civilians are expected to arrive in Brazil next Sunday, the 12th. In total, the eighth authorization list includes 595 people, also bringing citizens from the United States, Canada, Romania, Russia, China, Germany, among other countries. As the Jovem Pan website showed, the Rafah crossing was temporarily closed due to security circumstances, as reported by the United States. At a press conference, State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said the Egyptian-run crossing will reopen at its “regular intervals” when the situation is resolved. Patel did not specify the nature of the situation and confirmed that “there has been no inbound or outbound traffic throughout the day.”
