Bangladesh Garments Buying House Association (BGBA) elections are going to be held on March 2. On this occasion, the panel introduction of ‘Buyers Council’ consisting of experienced and young people was held. The Buyers Council expects a full panel vote on the development of the apparel sector and the country’s buying houses.

Kazi Iftekhar Hossain, the panel leader of Buyers Council and former president of BGBA, introduced the candidates of his panel at a hotel in the capital on Sunday (February 18). He also announced the manifesto of the panel.

Other members of the panel are Aminul Islam, Kazi Armanul Haque, Wahidur Rahman Wahid, Mohammad Morshed Alam, Monir Uz Zaman, Md. Abdul Momen, Mohammad Rakibul Hasan, Md. Zakir Hossain, Md. Fazlul Haque Saeed, Kayes Ahmed Chowdhury Sagar, Kya Chin The Dolly, Md. Mofazzal Hossain Pavel and Sagufta Newaz.

Panel leader Kazi Iftekhar Hossain said, ‘BGBA was not such an organization. It is because of those of us who have led this organization that the BGBA is where it is today. Our panel consists of experienced candidates as well as young candidates. Three members of the panel have offices outside the country. If our panel wins, the country’s buying house and this organization will go a long way.’

The manifesto priorities of the panel include reorganization of BGBA offices, renewal of membership and simplification of processes, establishment of buying houses as exporters. Apart from this, the panel has promised to improve the skills of workers, include BGBA members in CIP, search for new markets and products, and create an export opportunity of at least 18 thousand dollars in one invoice.
