California women’s gymnastics is poised for continued success with the addition of its most decorated gymnast, Mya Lauzon, to the coaching staff for the 2026 season. The announcement, made by head coach Geralen Stack-Eaton on Wednesday, marks Lauzon’s first foray into coaching after a stellar athletic career at the university.

Lauzon expressed her enthusiasm for the possibility, stating, “I am so thrilled to be returning to Cal for another season. After four years of unwavering support from the golden Bear community, I am excited to give back to the programme that has given me so much.”

The 2025 season proved particularly remarkable for Lauzon, as she was crowned Atlantic Coast conference Gymnast of the Year – a first for a Cal gymnast in the program’s inaugural season as an ACC member. She distinguished herself as one of only two gymnasts to earn All-ACC honors in all five disciplines and received a record six ACC Gymnast of the Week awards. Lauzon concluded the regular season ranked among the Top 25 in every event, leading the Bears with 32 event wins and 52 podium finishes. Stack-Eaton lauded Lauzon’s return, saying,”We are thrilled to welcome Mya Lauzon back to the program this season. Mya enjoyed an outstanding collegiate career and brings valuable insight into both the university and our team culture. Her positivity, enthusiasm and experience will make her an exceptional addition to our program this year.”

Prior to her senior success, Lauzon played a pivotal role in Cal’s historic 2024 season, where the team finished as national runner-up – the highest team finish in school history. She was also named the College Gym News Breakout Performer of the Year. Even as a freshman in 2022, Lauzon demonstrated her potential, recording eight scores of 9.90 or better and securing five top-three finishes, including two event titles. She finished second on beam at the 2022 NCAA regional Final and achieved top-eight finishes on both beam and floor at the NCAA Regional Semifinals.

Before arriving at Cal, Lauzon established herself as a rising star in the Junior Olympic circuit, earning two-time Junior Olympic National Team Member status and achieving top-three all-around finishes at Junior Olympic Nationals in 2018 and 2019. As a member of the Metropolitan Gymnastics club, she collected seven top-10 event finishes at nationals, including winning the vault title in 2019.
