A series of violent incidents in Peterborough, including the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy, are being investigated in connection with a mass stabbing on a high-speed train, authorities confirmed. A 32-year-old man has been charged with multiple offenses, as police work to determine if the attacks are linked.

Peterborough Under Inquiry Following Multiple Knife Incidents

Cambridgeshire police are investigating three separate incidents that occurred between Friday evening, October 31st, and Saturday morning, November 1st. The incidents include the non-fatal stabbing of a teenager and two reports involving a man with a knife in the fletton area of Peterborough.

The first reported incident occurred at 7:10 PM on Friday,when a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the city centre. He was transported to Peterborough City Hospital and later discharged after receiving treatment for minor injuries. According to police reports, the assailant had already fled the scene when authorities were called, and a subsequent search, including the use of a police dog, failed to identify the perpetrator.

Just fifteen minutes later, at 7:25 PM, a man with a knife was reportedly seen at a barber’s shop in the Fletton area. Though, this incident wasn’t reported to police until two hours later, at 9:10 PM. “At the time of reporting, the man was no longer there and had not returned, so we did not send officers, but a crime was raised,” a police statement read.

A second report concerning a man with a knife at the same barber’s shop was made at 9:25 AM on Saturday, while the individual was still present. officers arrived on the scene within 18 minutes, but were unable to locate or identify the man. A crime report was filed in this instance as well.

Train Stabbing and Further Charges

These incidents are now being investigated alongside the mass stabbing that took place on an LNER train traveling from Doncaster to London on Saturday. Anthony Williams, 32, has been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder, one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and one count of possession of a bladed article in connection with the train attack.

An LNER staff member remains in critical but stable condition in hospital following the train stabbings, with four other individuals still receiving treatment.

Williams also faces additional charges of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article related to a separate incident at Pontoon dock DLR station in east London earlier on Saturday. Reports indicate that a victim suffered facial injuries after being attacked with a “large kitchen knife.” court documents suggest the same weapon was used in both attacks.
