In the test match in Budapest, the Canadians beat the host Hungary 4:0 (1:0, 2:0, 1:0).

Colton Pareiko, Bowen Byram, Owen Powers and Dylan Gunter scored for last year’s world champions, with Connor Bedard and Andrew Manjapane each adding two assists.

This was the second test match for the Canadian national team before the championship – on Sunday they defeated Austria 5-1.

The Hungarians, on the other hand, won the first division of the world championship last week and will return to the elite group next year.

Meanwhile, in their only test match before the world championships, Team USA defeated the host Slovakia 6-2 (2-1, 1-1, 3-0) in Bratislava.

Joel Farabee, Matthew Boldy, Michael Eisimont, Brady Tkaczak, Will Smith and Kevin Hayes scored for the Americans, while Juraj Slafkowski and Peter Cehlárik scored for Slovakia.

Slovaks and Americans will be opponents of the Latvian national team in the world championship in the subgroup tournament.

Prior to that, the Slovakian national team defeated Switzerland twice (3:0, 5:3), shared victories with Germany (3:7, 5:4), lost twice to the Czech Republic (2:4, 1:4) and defeated Polish hockey players (6:1).

In two more test matches, the Danes defeated the Poles 3:1 (0:0, 1:0, 2:1), and the Kazakhstan national team beat the British national team 5:2 (0:1, 2:0, 3:1).

This year, the world championship will take place in the Czech cities of Prague and Ostrava from May 10 to 26.

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Norway and Switzerland will compete in Prague in subgroup A, while Latvia, USA, Germany, Sweden, France, Kazakhstan and Poland will compete in Ostrava in subgroup B.
