“We came to say hello and through you, pay tribute to all the VDPs in Burkina Faso. You are men, you are sons and daughters of this country. Everywhere in Burkina people are committed to defending the motherland, to defending our lands”. It is with this salutation of homage that Captain IB, Head of State, addressed the VDP before galvanizing them.
“Let laziness never be your companion. I say it and repeat it everywhere. Laziness should not be your companion. Where you need to walk, walk. Don’t sleep, because the enemy doesn’t sleep. He’s always trying to surprise you.”, Captain Ibrahim Traoré vehemently indicated to the volunteers for the defense of the homeland, clinging to his speech. For him, they must not sleep, because the nation has decided to wage war against terrorists for “live in peace, know happiness”.
The Head of State wished good courage to the VDP engaged in this war and assured them of the unwavering support of the people who are behind the fight. “Be proud of it. Not everyone has this courage. Those who do not have the courage to be among you contribute in their own way. They are the ones who allow us to pay for outfits, weapons, to have ammunition to train you and to equip you.”, he suggested to the VDP. Finally, he promised a future of choice to the VDP at the end of this war which, he said, was imposed by “the imperialists”.
“You who came have proven your patriotic spirit. Some of you will join the ranks of the army, others the civil service, and others will be supported so that they can settle down in the field they wish at the end of this war. If there are some who are here to fight and who in the end want to be welders, farmers, breeders, we will support you in that.
Those who have the ambition to join the army, we will support you in returning to the army. Those who need public service, we will support you so that you can be there.
