by time news

This Wednesday, the CBF announced that the Brazilian Team will play a friendly against Morocco. For the occasion, the team coach will be the under-20 coach, Ramon Menezes. The duel is scheduled for March 25, at the Ibn Batouta Stadium, in Tangier, in Moroccan territory.

Recently, the former Vasco player participated in Brazil’s victorious campaign in the U-20 South American Championship. Amarelinha was crowned undefeated champion of the tournament, last Sunday, after beating Uruguay, by 2-0, in the last round of the final hexagonal of the competition. Since 2011, the Brazilians have not lifted the cup, being left out of the last two World Cups.

This will be the first time the Brazilian team plays on Moroccan soil. The venue of the match was the stage for the matches of the last Club World Cup, which included the participation of Flamengo. At the 2022 World Cup, Morocco made history by becoming the first African team to advance to the semifinals of the competition, being beaten by France, in a disputed game, by 2-0.

“This is the beginning of a new cycle for Brazilian football. And the CBF kicks off with our selection entering the field against a strong opponent, which is Morocco, which reached the semifinals of the World Cup in Qatar, last year. It will be a good test for the Brazilian Men’s Selection. And, certainly, a game that will awaken the interest of the Brazilian fans”, said the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues.

Since Tite’s departure, the CBF still hasn’t been able to hire a coach to fill the position. With a preference for a foreigner, the main name speculated was that of Carlo Ancelotti, current commander of Real Madrid. Both the main entity of Brazilian and Italian football deny an agreement.
