The event highlights the potential dangers associated with severe weather and the rapid escalation of damage from lightning strikes.
europe experienced its stormiest day of the year on June 13,with notably intense super cells impacting Eure-et-Loir. The hardest-hit areas included Drouais, Bonnevalais, Perche, and Chartrain. Residents reported hailstones reaching the size of tennis balls, causing damage to homes and blocking roadways with fallen trees. A total of 160 firefighters were dispatched to respond to the widespread damage caused by the storms.

Despite the localized intensity of the storms, the Centre-Val de Loire region as a whole experienced relatively few lightning strikes in 2025. Data from the Meteorage professional network indicates the region was ninth out of 13 mainland French regions for lightning activity, with a total of 8,194 cloud-to-ground flashes recorded.
