The 1st edition of the Maracaña tournament for businesses in Burkina Faso was held on Tuesday October 31, 2023 in Ouagadougou. In this competition, 12 universities formed teams on behalf of companies to compete around the ball. On arrival, it was the UTM and the CERPAMAD which reached the last rampart. The final was won by CERPAMAD with a score of 2 goals to 0.

After studies, students are faced with either becoming entrepreneurs or dabbling in business. It is therefore necessary to create a networking framework between these actors according to the organizers of the first edition of the Maracaña companies tournament.
This competition was held on Tuesday October 31, 2023, in Ouagadougou under the format “ d’un Maracaña Commando ». 12 teams formed on behalf of companies competed in “one-shot knockout” matches. At the finish it was CERPAMAD, sponsored by the company Impulsion, which won the trophy by correcting UTM sponsored by Soul Design (2-0).
This victory was dedicated to the “strength of the collective”. “ It’s emotions only today. We came, we didn’t think we’d get to this stage. But the other teams neglected us. The big impact of our team is that we played collectively and we presented a great match,” rejoiced CERPAMAD captain Valentin Donvio.
This initiative is run by the Faucom team led by Saïd Sylla Zombra, for whom the objective is to create a networking framework between students and businesses around the game.
« We wanted to take advantage of football to be able to bring together students. To create a kind of network with companies and the company pays for the participation of universities. Today when it comes to entertainment events, we gather more. But when it comes to conferences and the like it’s a different reality. So we have to find the right balance, that’s why we wanted to go through football”the promoter justified himself.
This first edition was placed under the wings of Yacouba Rabo who decided to associate his image with this initiative in view of the relevance of the idea. “ First of all, I am young and I know how much this youth needs support. So I got involved to be able to help young people pursue their vision”he said.
