César Vallejo faced Always Ready for Group A of the 2024 Copa Sudamericana.

César Vallejo vs Always Ready: the ‘poet’ team lost 2-0 against the ‘albirrojo’ club on Thursday, April 25, for date 3 of Group A of the Copa Sudamericana 2024. The match was played at the Municipal El Alto stadium in Bolivia.

The Trujillo team suffered its third consecutive defeat in the Conmebol tournament and reduced its chances of staying in the international competition after being left with zero points in last place in the series standings. Goalkeeper Carlos Grados had several interventions that prevented a heavier fall. Coach Guillermo ‘Chicho’ Salas suffered multiple casualties, including attacker Paolo Guerrero (injured), Josepmir Ballón, José Carvallo and Cristian Benavente, among others.

The ‘red band’ achieved its second victory in the contest at the altitude of its town (4,000 meters above sea level) thanks to the goals of Héctor Cuellar (15′) and José Martínez (90′). Thus, the highland ‘millionaire’ reached seven points, remains undefeated and is the leader of Group A in the absence of the match between Defensa y Justicia against Independiente Medellín (DIM), who are in second (4 units) and third place (three units), respectively.

César Vallejo will face DIM at the Mansiche stadium for date 4 of the Sudamericana next Tuesday, May 7 from 7:00 p.m. For its part, Always Ready will be home again against Defensa y Justicia -that same day- for the fourth day.
