The British royal family is currently having to cope with two serious illnesses – and Crown Prince William (41) is now running the business almost alone. His wife Kate (42) now needs all his help.
The princess is currently recovering at home from difficult abdominal surgery. The plan was actually for William to support her and look after the children George (10), Charlotte (8) and Louis (5). But now King Charles (75) is out because of his cancer. On Wednesday, William steps in for the first time and takes over his appointments.
The wife is physically weakened, the father is being treated for cancer, the quarreling brother Harry (39) is back in England and he also has three small children. There’s a lot of pressure on William’s shoulders!

On Wednesday morning, William will attend a formal investiture of dignitaries at Windsor Castle. In the evening, as a former air ambulance pilot, he takes part in the Air Ambulance Charity Gala in London.
Palace insiders are certain: William had to spontaneously agree to these appointments because of King Charles’ illness. The royals did not want to comment on this when asked by BILD. But it’s clear that William must put his private interests aside to represent the crown. On Tuesday, Charles’ sister, Princess Anne (73), took on three appointments in London.

These must be incredibly difficult hours for the future monarch William. Although it is still unknown what caused Kate’s illness, a husband’s concern for his family is a deep pain. But: HE has to be the strong shoulder for the English. HE must stand for stability! That is the job of the king and in this case, the heir to the throne.

Prince Harry arrived from the USA on Tuesday to support his father. However, it is unclear whether he can relieve his older brother and step in at appointments because, according to the Regency Act, only “working royals may be appointed as representatives by the head of state”.

The emergency/crisis plan in the event of a complete failure of the king has been in place since 1937 – the Regency Ordinance/Law. Accordingly, the representatives of the head of state are “the Queen, the Prince of Wales, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Royal Princess Anne”.
Since Harry and his wife Meghan (42), but also Prince Andrew, no longer work in the service of the Royal Family, “only Queen Camilla, Prince William, Prince Edward or Princess Anne can be considered as representatives for King Charles”.
