Users can now harness the power of Adobe’s creative suite within the ChatGPT interface, streamlining workflows and making complex tasks accessible through simple conversational prompts.
Adobe has launched direct integration of its popular applications – Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat – into ChatGPT, making them available to users globally at no cost. The move, announced on Wednesday, aims to simplify complex creative tasks by allowing users to leverage the AI chatbot’s conversational interface to control Adobe’s powerful tools.
The integration allows ChatGPT users to accomplish tasks ranging from photo editing in Photoshop to creating marketing materials in Express and managing documents in Acrobat, all without requiring an Adobe subscription or even logging into an Adobe account. As one analyst noted, this accessibility dramatically lowers the barrier to entry for users who might find Adobe’s standalone applications intimidating.
How the Integration Works
Activating the Adobe apps within ChatGPT is straightforward. users simply select the desired app – Photoshop, Express, or Acrobat – from the textbox using the (+) icon. Once selected, tasks are completed by entering conversational prompts. ChatGPT then processes the request and delivers the results directly within the chat interface.Notably, there are currently no usage limits imposed within ChatGPT for these integrated apps.
Photoshop: AI-Powered Image Editing
Demonstrations showcased the power of the Photoshop integration. In one example, a user prompted the app to “convert the image to BW,” uploading a photo from a trip to Japan. The AI instantly produced a black and white version of the image, complete with adjustable controls for exposure, dark values, and white values – all accessible via slider widgets within ChatGPT.
Another demo illustrated the ability to add effects. When asked to “add some effects” to a second image, the chatbot generated options like a “glitch” effect, which coudl then be customized and refined within the chatgpt interface. Crucially, the editing process adheres to photoshop’s non-destructive editing conventions, allowing users to open the image in Photoshop on the web with all edits preserved as editable layers by clicking an “Open in Photoshop” button.
Adobe Express: Streamlined Content Creation
The Adobe Express integration mirrors the functionality of the Canva integration, which launched in October. adobe Express is a versatile platform for creating visual content, including flyers, social media posts, documents, and more. With the ChatGPT integration, users can now generate this content simply by describing their needs in a text prompt.
In a exhibition, a prompt requesting “retro and festive” ideas for a holiday party generated an on-theme flyer template. Users can then refine elements like background color and text details through follow-up conversational prompts. If the integration performs as seamlessly as demonstrated, it could offer a meaningful advantage over the Canva app, which initially required manual editing within Canva for optimal results.
Adobe Acrobat: Simplified PDF Management
While perhaps the simplest of the three integrations, the Adobe acrobat functionality is nonetheless useful. Users can now merge PDFs, edit text directly within documents, adjust formatting, and add comments – all through ChatGPT. The technology can also be used to redact sensitive information within PDF files.
In testing, the AI successfully completed all demonstrated tasks. This integration represents a significant step towards making powerful creative tools accessible to a wider audience, all within the familiar and intuitive
