Thiruvananthapuram: A gang who swindled lakhs by kidnapping boys has been arrested. Ashok Pattidar, Nilesh Pattidar and Vallabh Pattidar, both from Rajasthan, were arrested. Three members of the gang were arrested by the Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Police on a complaint of embezzling Rs 10 lakh from a Thiruvananthapuram resident. The accused were produced in the Dargapar court and returned to Kerala with a transit warrant.
The group targeted children attending an online class. Pop-ups containing obscene messages are sent during online classes. Later, they chat with children and send pornographic pictures. As the children fall, the CBI approaches them claiming to be a cyber gang.
The threat is that the chat information will be released if you do not pay. Police said several children have been abducted in the state. They are a nationwide scam. City Cyber Police led by AC T Shyamlal arrested the accused.
