A year ago, President Arif Alfie approved an anti – rape bill that would allow rape cases to be completed within four months through speedy courts.
There was a huge outcry from the people against the increase in crime. The new law aims to curb crime in the country in the wake of rising crime against women and children.
However, Jamaat – e – Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmed had spoken out against the law, saying that rapists should be hanged in public and that there was no proper reference to rape.
In addition to the anti-rape bill, 33 other bills have been passed.
Man arrested for raping girl and making her pregnant
Kollam: A youth has been arrested in a case of sexually abusing a girl after promising to marry her. A 26-year-old man was arrested at his home in Kadapa, Kollam.
