Chemical Castration | Defendants in rape cases will be drugged; Pakistan passes bill

Islamabad: Pakistan has passed a bill to impose chemical castration on rape accused. The bill to amend the criminal law was passed in a joint sitting of the Pakistani parliament yesterday.

The bill states that drug-induced sterilization will make the accused incapable of having sex for the rest of his life.

A year ago, President Arif Alfie approved an anti – rape bill that would allow rape cases to be completed within four months through speedy courts.

There was a huge outcry from the people against the increase in crime. The new law aims to curb crime in the country in the wake of rising crime against women and children.

However, Jamaat – e – Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmed had spoken out against the law, saying that rapists should be hanged in public and that there was no proper reference to rape.

In addition to the anti-rape bill, 33 other bills have been passed.

Man arrested for raping girl and making her pregnant

Kollam: A youth has been arrested in a case of sexually abusing a girl after promising to marry her. A 26-year-old man was arrested at his home in Kadapa, Kollam. The accused was arrested by the Kerala Police on Friday following a complaint by the girl’s family. The arrest of the accused was later recorded by the departments including Pocso. The accused, who was produced in court, was remanded for 14 days.
