Chennai: Anti-bribery police conducted raids at 5 places associated with construction companies in connection with the complaint of Rs 50 crore bribes handed over to politicians and government officials during the period 2015-2017 during the construction of flats in Perambur Binny Mill area of ​​Chennai. The first information report contains a list of names of politicians, tahsildars, VAOs and officers including some MPs, MLAs, councillors.

Apartment: A pinny mill was operating on Perambur Barracks Road, Chennai. The mill was closed due to various problems. Subsequently, a part of the place here was bought by private companies and an apartment building was built. Earlier, there were various problems in obtaining permission from the Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation (CMDA) to build the residential area as there was a narrow road around the land, which is about 14.16 acres.

Subsequently, Councilor to MLA, M.P. The concerned private construction companies have contacted various political figures and asked for help.

In return, it is said that a total of Rs 50 crore 86,125 was paid as bribe to various people’s representatives, politicians, government officials etc. During the last period of 2015-2017, this bribe money has changed hands to politicians and officials. In this case, a case was filed in the Madras High Court regarding the Indian bribery issue.

Court orders: The court ordered the anti-bribery wing of the Tamil Nadu Police to conduct a proper investigation and take action. Subsequently, Tamil Nadu anti-bribery division DGP Abhaykumar Singh started the investigation.

Based on the information already received from the Income Tax Department, it has been revealed that many people have a scheme to exchange bribes of Rs.50 crores. Following this, the investigation was intensified.

Case Registration: Following this, the Chennai Anti-Bribery Division has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Udayakumar, Managing Director of Landmark Housing Projects, Sunil Kethpalya, Manish Parmar, Directors of KLP Projects and others, on January 31.

The list of MP, MLA, Councillor, Tahsildar, VAO and how much bribe was given to whom to get permission from CMDA and remove the encroachments is included in the first report. These details are said to have been provided by the concerned private construction companies.

Following this, the anti-bribery police yesterday carried out intensive raids at the places related to the 2 construction companies carrying out construction work in Binny Mill area.

The test was conducted at 5 locations in Chennai including Thiagaraya Nagar. It has been reported that property documents worth several crores of rupees were involved.
