Chennai-based drone startup Garuda Aerospace has achieved a feat by surveying 7,000 villages in UP under the central government’s Swamitwa scheme, which provides property ownership cards.

In 2020, Prime Minister Modi launched the Swamitwa Land Survey. The aim of the project is to create an accurate digital property rights document for farmers who have been living on their land in villages for years. Rural and Local Government Department, Revenue Department, Land Survey and Records Department, Indian Land Survey Department are working together in this scheme. The issuance of this land document card makes it easier for the owners to get loans from banks.

In this case, Chennai-based drone company Garuda Aerospace has successfully mapped 7,000 villages in Uttar Pradesh under the Swamitwa project. Garuda Aerospace received the tender from the Indian Survey Department in 2021. It has accordingly approved the use of drones for large-scale mapping and digitization of land records in rural areas.
