China, bird flu on a human. Baby infected with chickens or ducks
From the China comes a new one health alarmdestined to once again scare the whole world despite the reassurance of the government of Beijing. Confirmed on first human case known of the strain H3N8 from avian influenzabut health authorities say there is a low risk of transmission widespread among people. H3N8 is known to have been around since 2002, having first emerged in the waterfowl of the Nord America. It is known to infect horses, dogs and seals, but it hasn’t been previously detected in humans. China’s National Health Commission has announced that a four year old child who lives in central Henan province tested positive for the strain after being hospitalized earlier this month with fever and other symptoms. The boy’s family raise chickens at home and lives in an area populated by wild ducksthe NHC said in a statement.
Il piccolo has been infected directly from the birds and the strain does not have “the ability to effectively infect humans,” the commission added. The NHC then added that the boy’s case was a “cross transmission of one species only, and the risk of a large-scale broadcast is basso“The authorities then warned the population to stay anyway away from the dead birds o sick people and to seek immediate treatment for fever or respiratory symptoms. Bird flu occurs mainly in the birds wild and in poultry. Cases of transmission between humans are extremely rare. The strains H5N1 e H7N9 of avian influenza, identified in 1997 and 2013 respectively, were responsible for the majority of cases of human avian influenza disease, according to the US Centers for Disease Control. Human infections of zoonotic influences, or of animal origin, are “acquired mainly through the direct contact with infected animals or contaminated environments, but they do not result in an efficient transmission of these viruses between people, “according to the World Health Organization.
