Companies in the oil and gas sector of China in January – March increased oil production by 2.3% year on year (to 53.48 million tons), and natural gas production by 5.2% (to 63.2 billion cubic meters). As for the import of these energy resources, over three months China imported 137.36 million tons of oil (an increase of 0.7% compared to the same period last year) and 32.79 million tons of gas (an increase of 22.8%).

According to calculations by the General Administration of Customs of the PRC, the Chinese side in 2023 increased oil imports by 11% (to 563.99 million tons), gas – by 9.9% (to 119.97 million tons). Russia is a leading exporter of energy resources to China, which last year purchased 107 million tons of oil from Russia (an increase of 24%) and 8 million tons of liquefied natural gas (an increase of 23%). Supplies via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline increased 1.5 times, to a record 22.7 billion cubic meters. m.
