The FAST, the Aperture Spherical Telescope, is a giant radio telescope built in the Pingtang Mountains in southwestern China. The facility covers the area of about thirty football fields and cost $ 175 million. This innovative and unique instrument in the world was built in nine years, around it there are five kilometers of radio silence where cell phones and computers are not allowed. The huge structure aims to host as many astronomers as possible to capture the radio signals emitted by celestial bodies, in particular pulsars, rapidly rotating dead stars. This study, in fact, could allow a better understanding of the origins of the universe and help in the search for alien life.
