A mainland spokesman on Thursday commented on a recently published article jointly by three influential figures in Taiwan’s semiconductor industry, saying that the article’s concerns about the US Chip and Science Act undermining Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation “are not alarming” It is a “warning to Taiwan society.”

Chen Binhua, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the article largely showed that the DPP authorities’ actions of appeasing external forces were being questioned by industries on the island of Taiwan.
He warned that Taiwan would likely be abandoned once the island became independent in developing its industries and lost its place in global industrial and supply chains.
Taiwan’s entrepreneurs and enterprises are participants, contributors and will certainly benefit from the development of new, high-quality production forces, Chen said.
Noting that the mainland and Taiwan have complementary industries, Chen suggested that Taiwan’s enterprises should demonstrate their industrial advantages to seize development opportunities related to new, high-quality productive forces.
It is clear that the mainland will introduce more measures to deepen integrated development on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and enhance the well-being of the people of Taiwan.
He said more efforts will be made to ensure equal treatment for Taiwan compatriots on the mainland, create a favorable business environment and provide stronger policy support for Taiwan compatriots for development on the mainland.
