BEIJING, June 16, 2022 (Xinhua) China’s commercial space telescope (Yanguang-1) has completed an optical survey of the entire sky, according to its developer.
The telescope was launched into orbit from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi Province on June 11, 2021, and was developed by Shenzhen-based Origin Space for its asteroid resource exploration and research activities.
While in orbit, the telescope conducted sky survey and atmospheric luminosity observations, as well as nighttime remote observations and asteroids observations, said Su Meng, founder and CEO of the company.
The company also plans to build a group of satellites in the future, consisting of multi-band space telescopes. The first phase of the network with 10 satellites is expected to be completed in 2023, said Su. /ts/
