Munich:
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi went to Paris, the capital of France, on the first leg of his European tour. There he will meet French President Emmanuel Macron. They are expected to discuss Macron’s visit to China later this year.
This is Wang Yi’s first foreign trip since assuming the role of China’s senior foreign policy adviser.
He will also visit Italy, Hungary and Russia during his recent eight-day tour.
China has close relations with Russia. Strengthening Beijing’s reputation in Europe is also seen as the main objective of his visit.
In this case, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken attended the security conference held in Munich. Then he met the Chinese Foreign Minister.
The two ministers have met while the spy balloon issue is pending.
