The Vincent Dabilgou trial continues with the hearing of witnesses. The first witnesses are on the stand. After T. Minata, Advance Manager of the Ministry of Transport, it was Clément P. Sawadogo, Coordinator of the Alliance of Presidential Majority Parties (APMP) who came to testify on this case of the Vincent Dabilgou trial and 6 others accused, among other things, of embezzlement of public funds, money laundering.

He came to recognize, as the accused Vincent Dabilgou had said, that the Alliance of the Parties of the Presidential Majority (APMP), in the name of President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, handed over 80 million to Vincent Dabilgou, president of the New Time for Democracy (NTD) to beat the 2020 campaign.

There are more than sixty political parties that the APMP has financially supported during the 2020 campaign, Clément P. Sawadogo, head of the APMP, told the prosecutor. He argued that it was in this context that he gave in the name of the APMP and by extension of the MPP candidate, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, 80 million to Vincent Dabilgou on behalf of the NTD. The money was given in two installments, 30 million for the pre-campaign and 50 million for the campaign,” maintained Clément Sawadogo.

“We handed it over to the party president (Vincent Dabilgou, editor’s note). It is an amount given in cash against discharge, ”clarified Clément Sawadogo. A precision which was really not to the taste of the prosecutor who estimates that one cannot use a sum up to 80 million FCFA without going through credible financial institutions.

“Do you think we can give 80 million like that in cash in these times when money laundering is the fight of any government? Do you think it’s normal to pass around 80 million in cash like that between two individuals without traceability? “, asks through a stunned air the prosecutor.

Clément Sawadogo, to whom this obviously does not move, retorted: “You may think that 80 million is… but during the campaign period, 80 million can go away in a week, huh”. The prosecutor returns to the charge and also asks Clément P. Sawadogo if he can justify the origin of the 80 million FCFA that he gave to Vincent Dabilgou, because for the prosecutor, this can easily make one think of money laundering.

“The money came from the party president (Roch Marc Christian Kaboré). During a campaign period, we receive money from everywhere, friends from outside, nationally, and so on. “, replied Clément Sawadogo who obviously has no documents to justify the origin of the 80 million he received from candidate Roch Kaboré to give to Vincent Dabilgou against discharge.

It is therefore the simple discharge that justified that Vincent Dabilgou received 80 million from the Coordinator of the APMP, Clément P. Sawadogo. The prosecutor informed the judge that this discharge, anyone can do it and that it cannot convince anyone.

“A discharge which dates from 2020 cannot be so new”, will point out for their part the lawyers of the civil party to point out a “false” character of the discharge.

The hearing continues.
