Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu and starring Vikram, the movie ‘Cobra’ was released on August 31. This action thriller film is produced by SS Lalit Kumar under the banner of 7 Screen Studios. Vikram has played almost ten roles in this film. The film also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Mia George, Irfan Pathan, Roshan Mathew, Padmapriya, Kanika, Mrinalini Ravi, Meenakshi, Robo Shankar and many other stars. The film was released to celebrate the Vinayagar Chaturthi holiday. While many fans were eagerly waiting to see Vikram on screen, Cobra did not get the success they expected.
The trailer of the film was praised for being superior to Western films, and the action-packed scenes were awe-inspiring. Touted to be a big budget film in actor Vikram’s screen journey, reports suggest that producer Lalit Kumar has spent more than a hundred crores on the film. Also, there are reports that Vikram, who has acted in ten roles in this film, has been paid twenty five crore rupees.

The film, which was made on such a huge budget, was expected to be a box office hit, but the collection dropped on the following days, except on the first day. Harish Kannan is the DOP for AR Rahman’s music for Cobra and John Abraham has done the editing for the film. After ‘Cobra’, directed by Mani Ratnam, ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ starring Vikram Aditha Karigalan will release on September 30. Almost 3 hours and 3 minutes of Cobra film was cut by 20 minutes from the second day.
