‘Coffee drinkers have less risk of premature death’

by time news

The research team from China used death certificate data. They followed the participants for a period of about seven years from 2009. During that period 3177 people died.

Lower risk

The analysis showed that coffee drinkers have the lowest risk of death compared to people who do not drink coffee. People who drink between 2.5 and 4.5 cups of coffee a day had the lowest risk of premature death with a reduction of 29 percent.

However, the study asked participants about their coffee habits only once and relied further on self-reporting. This means that the results of the study are anything but definitive. The reduced risk of premature death would therefore not necessarily be due to the coffee itself.
