Coimbatore: Satya Murthy, 29, from Salem, a leather company worker, came to Valparai in Coimbatore district in 2011. Then, he was hit by a forest department vehicle and died. His wife Sukanti filed a case in court seeking compensation.

In 2018, the MCOP Special Court ordered a compensation of Rs 20 lakh. The court ordered the confiscation of the property of the Coimbatore collector’s office as the forest department and the district administration failed to pay compensation. Accordingly, the court staff along with the lawyer went to the collector’s office this morning (Feb. 07) and confiscated the items.
