After the great editorial and media success of the trilogy of graphic novels Romanzo Esplicito, P-My trans adolescence and Anestesia signed by Fumettibrutti (Feltrinelli Comics), the story of the protagonist P. becomes a TV series signed by the author and director Laura Luchetti, with the screenwriter Luca Giordano and the advice of the author herself Josephine Yole Signorelli, co-produced by Bim Produzione and Feltrinelli Originals. Josephine Yole Signorelli aka Fumettibrutti is the revelation of recent years in the panorama of Italian comics. A story, between biography and fiction, freely interpreted by Laura Luchetti, with the contribution of the screenwriter Luca Giordano, in the television adaptation of an all-Italian “punk” sentimental education (10 episodes of 30 ‘), set in the first decade of 2000s, between Catania and Bologna. The meeting between the author-director Laura Luchetti – talent of training and international experience, selected in prestigious festivals (Sundance, Cannes, Tiff, BFI London, Busan) with her second film Fiore Gemello, awarded for her short films (Nastro d’Argento for Sugar Love) and for the recent TV series Nudes for RaiPlay – and the young artist Fumettibrutti combines two exceptional visions and sensibilities in telling the contemporary world, Italian society and the evolution of youth culture with respect to themes such as ‘gender identity, sex, love, inclusivity, diversity, integration and counterculture, amplifying in this project the ability of both to reach the general public with current, authentic and original stories and themes, again little explored by Italian television fiction.
The co-production was born from the meeting between Feltrinelli Originals, the TV series development label of Effe TV, media content company of the Feltrinelli Group, directed by Riccardo Chiattelli, and Bim Produzione (Wild Bunch Ag Group) led by Riccardo Russo. An editorial and business partnership between two realities of audiovisual production in Italy, the expression of two large European companies, which sees the respective development teams already active in a second project – still confidential – in development and pre-production for a streamer.
