The Spanish Carlos Falcón had to be revived this Sunday after suffering a fall from the motorcycle with which he was competing in the Dakar 2024. For the moment he remains hospitalized, in an induced coma.

Falcón, who belongs to the Twintrail Racing Team, suffered cerebral edema and a fracture of the C2 vertebra, for which he will undergo emergency surgery.
The EFE agency reported that, according to its sources, the Spaniard’s recovery prospects “are uncertain at this point.” While the director of the Dakar, David Castera, avoided confirming whether there were no longer fears for the pilot’s life. “We have to wait a little longer,” he said.
This was the second time that Falcón participated in the Dakar. After the fall he suffered, he had to be resuscitated since he was unconscious and without a pulse. He was later transferred by helicopter to the Al Duwadimi hospital, where the first checks were carried out.

Twintrail Racing Team explained that the Spaniard will be transferred to the hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There he will undergo surgery and remain sedated.
The team also made the decision to withdraw its other rider, Isaac Feliu, from the competition.
