In Karnataka, the Congress party has won most of the seats in the urban local body elections.
In the state of Karnataka, urban local body elections were held for 1,184 wards out of 58 local bodies. The vote count took place on Thursday.
At the end of the polls, the Congress won 498 wards, the BJP 437 wards, the Janata Dal 45 wards and other parties and independents 204 wards.
The Congress got 42.06 per cent, the BJP 36.90 per cent and other parties 21 per cent.
However, out of a total of 166 municipal wards, the BJP won 67 seats and the Congress 61 seats.
