According to TikTok’s year-end report, “Pretty Little Baby” was featured in over 28.4 million posts, amassing more than 68 billion views. The song’s appeal crossed generational lines, captivating both everyday users and high-profile celebrities. Notable figures like Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Nara Smith, and Ariana Greenblatt all contributed to the trend, wiht Jenner’s video of her singing the song with her daughter Stormi garnering over 132 million views alone.
The song initially gained traction on the platform, previously topping the tiktok Music Charts with over 1.3 million posts, before achieving its ultimate recognition as the year’s top track. This unexpected revival prompted Francis, who had previously retired from performing, to join TikTok in June to celebrate the song’s newfound popularity.
In a heartfelt video posted to the platform, Francis expressed her gratitude and astonishment. “My thanks to you all for the huge reception you have given to ‘Pretty Little Baby’,” she stated. “I am delighted to join the TikTok Community and share this moment with you.” She continued, “I’m flabbergasted and excited about the huge buzz my 1962 recording of ‘Pretty Little Baby’ is making all over the world. Sadly, Francis passed away in July at the age of 87. The american pop singer and actress enjoyed a nearly seven-decade-long career, selling over 200 million records worldwide. She broke barriers in 1960, becoming the first woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her signature hit, “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool.” in tribute to her lasting impact, more than 100 previously unreleased singles and rarities from her early career, spanning 1955-1960, were made available for streaming.
