The former director of public health in Estrie, the Dre Mélissa Généreux will run under the banner of Québec solidaire (QS) in the riding of Saint-François during the next election campaign.

Québec solidaire spokesperson Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois and Sherbrooke MP Christine Labrie are expected to make the official announcement on Monday morning, a party source confirmed.
The Dre Généreux held the position of public health director for Estrie at the time of the Lac-Mégantic tragedy in 2013.
The public health expert from Repentigny is also an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sherbrooke.
Provincial elections will be held next October.
The current MP for the riding of Saint-François is Caquiste Geneviève Hébert.
