States Declare Dry Day for Ayodhya Ram Temple Consecration Ceremony

As the consecration ceremony for the Ayodhya Ram temple draws near, three states have declared January 22 as a dry day. The BJP-ruled states of Chhattisgarh, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh have announced that liquor shops will be closed and no alcohol will be sold or served on that day.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai expressed his excitement, stating, “It is our good fortune that Chhattisgarh is the birthplace of Rama’s mother. We are also lucky that the Pratishtha Day will be held at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on 22nd January. There will be an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the entire state on that day. Diwali lights will be lit in the houses. Therefore, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to observe January 22 as a dry day for the entire state.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma also echoed this sentiment, stating that the Assam government has declared January 22 as a dry day in the context of the Ram temple dedication.

Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced that all liquor shops will be closed on January 22 in honor of the Ayodhya Pratishtha. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath further added that all educational institutions in the state will have a holiday on that day.

The Ram temple, a long-standing symbol of Hindu faith and nationalism, has been under construction in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The consecration ceremony on January 22 is anticipated to be a grand and significant event, and the declaration of dry days in multiple states is a reflection of the reverence and importance attached to this occasion.
