The fallout from the organization of the 2024 Olympic Games promises to be massive for different sectors. The influx of millions of visitors to the capital and to the organizing cities this summer will, for example, cause a significant temporary increase in metro tickets and the subscription which allows use of Ile-de-France transport.

As reported The Parisian, consumer industry experts expect extremely strong demand throughout the period for certain products. A study carried out by a firm specializing in the field, whose daily life reveals some elements, analyzes the impact of the future Olympic Games for businesses, restaurants and large brands. The study is based in particular on the 2012 Olympic Games organized in London. In the British capital that year, international tourists spent 6% more than the previous year.

Condoms soar during competition

According to the study, we should expect an explosion of certain “pleasure products” which are among the great classics of sporting events: lager beers, sodas, chocolate bars, aperitif biscuits, pizzas and snacks, as far as the ‘eating. During the London Olympics, there was also a 5% surge in condoms during the summer.

At the same time, the Olympic spirit seems to be taking hold of sports fans who are flocking to energy drinks and smoking cessation products during and after the competition. Finally, depending on the neighborhood, expenses differ: hygiene products are popular in residential neighborhoods while food will increase the most in neighborhoods around sports venues.
