Contract nurses should be allowed to continue working

by time news

AIADMK Interim General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has requested the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to cancel the decree that issued no extension of service to contract nurses and ensure that contract nurses continue to work.

In this regard, in a press release issued by him, “During the year 2020, when the whole world was affected by the corona virus infection, doctors all over the world were very afraid to treat this disease in the period when no drugs could be found for the corona disease.

In this situation, the then AIADMK government took various measures to control the corona virus infection, respecting their lives. According to this, the doctors and nurses who are required to admit the corona patients in the hospitals and serve them were selected as frontline workers through the Medical Staff Selection Board known as MRB.

During the Corona epidemic, when there was a large demand for nurses, in view of the extraordinary medical situation, invitations were sent directly to those who had applied for the post of nurses in the Medical Staff Selection Board, asking them to work in the Corona wards.

In such a critical and difficult situation, when the invitation to join the work was sent, only about 40 to 50 percent of the nurses accepted the invitation and volunteered to work in the hospitals treating the corona virus infection.

DMK’s election manifesto no. 356 According to “Doctors and nurses working on contract appointment system will be made permanent”, this DMK government sent contract doctors home as a New Year gift in 2022 to cheat the lives of contract doctors and contract nurses who thought that their work would be made permanent, in 2023 It has also sent contract nurses home as a New Year gift and put their future in question.

This government, which has always been in the habit of conveniently forgetting what is said in the election manifesto, has expressed my strong condemnation of the decree which issued no extension of service to contract nurses.

I urge the Chief Minister to cancel this ordinance immediately and ensure the continued employment of contract nurses. He also said that when conducting the examination for vacant positions through the Medical Staff Selection Board, the contract doctors and contract nurses who have risked their lives and worked in difficult situations such as corona virus infection, should be given priority marks and their work should be made permanent.
