Chennai: The recent remarks made by Minister Udayanidhi Stalin regarding Sanatana Dharma have sparked a controversy, leading Tamil Nadu BJP executives to personally file a complaint with the Governor, demanding action against the minister. The party has also called for the removal of Minister Shekhar Babu from office.

In response to Minister Udayanidhi Stalin’s speech at the Sanatana Abolition Conference in Chennai, Hindu organizations, including the BJP, have staged nationwide protests. Four Tamil Nadu BJP state vice-presidents, Karu Nagarajan, Paul Kanagaraj, state secretary Aswathaman, and Thada Periyasamy, submitted a complaint to Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, urging action against Udayanidhi Stalin.

The petition asserts that Minister Udayanidhi Stalin’s remarks have deeply hurt the sentiments of Sanatana Dharma followers across the country. Despite widespread criticism, Udayanidhi Stalin has not offered an apology and has defended his speech as being aligned with the ideology of Periyar.

Referring to the Supreme Court’s stance on inciting religious hatred, the complaint argues that Udayanidhi should be prosecuted under Section 4. Expressing disappointment, the petition also highlights the failure of the Tamil Nadu police to register a case against the minister.

The BJP representatives allege that no action has been taken against Udayanidhi Stalin merely because he is the son of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. In light of this, they request Governor RN Ravi to direct the Tamil Nadu Police to register a case against Udayanidhi and ensure appropriate action is taken.

The complaint to the Governor also addresses another concern related to Minister PK Shekharbabu, who chairs the Hindu Religious Charities Department. The BJP accuses him of participating in the Sanatana Abolition Conference and violating his oath of office by remaining silent on the issue. They have called for his removal.

Consequently, the Tamil Nadu BJP has announced a statewide protest set to take place on September 11, targeting Minister Shekhar Babu and the Tamil Nadu government. The demand for his removal is based on the alleged violation of his duty as a minister.

Additionally, ANS Prasad, the former state president of the Tamil Nadu BJP media wing and member of the state executive committee, has lodged a complaint with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging action against Minister Udayanidhi Stalin. In the complaint, Prasad accuses the minister of promoting caste and religious differences for personal and political gain and calls for a case to be registered against him under the National Security Act.

The complaint also requests an investigation into whether there was a larger conspiracy to undermine national unity behind Udayanidhi Stalin’s divisive rhetoric.

As the controversy surrounding Minister Udayanidhi Stalin’s remarks continues to escalate, Hindu organizations and the BJP are determined to hold their ground until necessary action is taken against the minister.
