A revitalized Coop supermarket in Maranello,Italy,officially opened its doors last Saturday,November 15th,following a substantial €600,000 investment in renovations. The modernized store aims to cater to evolving consumer needs with a strong emphasis on local sourcing and a diverse range of services.
A New Shopping Experience for Over 5,700 Members
The extensive remodeling, conducted while the store remained open to the public, represents a “profound renewal” designed to enhance the shopping experience for the cooperative’s over 5,700 members and the wider community. According to a statement from Coop Alleanza 3.0, the goal is to provide a purchasing experience that aligns with current spending habits and consumption trends, all while maintaining the cooperative’s commitment to quality and affordability. The 1,500-square-metre supermarket now employs 41 workers.
Inauguration Ceremony Draws Local Leaders
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Luigi zironi, the mayor of Maranello, and Lorenza Corazzari, a board member of Coop Alleanza 3.0. Representatives from the cooperative, including district manager vito Magarelli and Modena South Members’ Area president Rossano Gianferrari, were also present. Following official remarks, Don Lorenzo Rossi, priest of the San Biagio parish, offered a blessing of the newly renovated structure.
Fresh Food Focus: Bakery, Gastronomy, and more
A key highlight of the renovation is the new Coop Bakery, offering a wide selection of fresh bread and baked goods. The bakery utilizes locally sourced flours and features specialty breads available on specific days or through pre-order. Customers can also find conventional local products like breadsticks, focaccia, and pizza available by the slice or whole.
The revamped Gastronomy section boasts an extensive array of ready-to-eat meals, rotisserie items, and regional specialties. Expert staff are on hand to provide recommendations and pairings. A new Tigelleria offers everything needed for a traditional tigellata, while the Friggitoria serves freshly fried fish.
Quality Meats, Seafood, and Produce
The supermarket’s assisted Butcher and Fishmonger counters provide a refined selection of high-quality products. The butcher shop now features Angus beef and a range of in-house preparations, including fresh sausage, all sourced from controlled supply chains. A dedicated area caters to hamburger enthusiasts, offering both classic and vegetarian options with a variety of toppings. The Pescheria (fish counter) provides both fresh and frozen seafood, and also loose eggs for customer convenience.
The renovated Fruit and Vegetable department prioritizes local and seasonal produce,with clearly marked short supply chain items and accompanying facts about the supporting producers. Ample space is also dedicated to organic fruits and vegetables.
Beyond Groceries: Cellar, Home Goods, and More
The supermarket’s Cellar showcases a wide selection of local and regional wines, alongside Coop’s Fior fiore brand.A new “Gin hub” caters to cocktail enthusiasts with a diverse assortment of gins. The store also offers a comprehensive range of products for home care, baby care, and personal care. Customers can choose between five traditional checkouts and three self-checkout lanes.The Coop supermarket is open Monday through saturday from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM, and on Sunday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
