Coquelin faced Matthieu Chambonniere of Ole Miss in the round of 32. The match began unfavorably for the Vanderbilt junior, as Chambonniere dominated the first set with a score of 6-1. This initial loss placed significant pressure on Coquelin, particularly following the earlier elimination of teammate and No. 46 ranked junior Danil Panarin at the hands of Henry Jefferson of Florida (4-6, 7-5, 6-3).
However, Coquelin demonstrated remarkable composure, battling back to secure the second set 7-5, leveling the contest. This marked his first three-set match of the fall season, presenting a new challenge. According to reports, Coquelin then seized control in the decisive third set, achieving a commanding 6-1 victory to clinch the match and advance to the next round.
