Corey Heim cemented his place in NASCAR history on Friday, securing his tenth win of teh 2025 season at the Charlotte Motor speedway Roval and setting a new record for most wins in a single NASCAR Truck Series campaign.
The victory was a testament to Heim’s resilience, overcoming an early crash and notable damage to his No. 11 TRICON Garage Toyota.Despite sustaining left-front damage after hitting the tire barrier in Turn 1, Heim saeid, “I think this was probably the toughest one of the year so far. Just shows the resilience of this TRICON team. They fixed it up so good for me on the first lap, which was just kind of out of our control. I thought we were done. The right front entirely folded when I hit the wall over there. Kind of out of breath just from screaming after that one. That was awesome. A record-breaking ten wins.That’s just a phenomenal accomplishment.”
A heartbreaking finish saw Heim’s teammate, Brent Crews, finish second after leading for much of the race. Crews opted to pit for fresh tires in the closing stages but was unable to regain the lead before the checkered flag waved. Gio Ruggiero completed the podium in third, contributing to a dominant performance by TRICON Garage, with Rajah Caruth finishing fourth and Connor Zilisch in fifth.Josh Bilicki, Grant Enfinger, Ty Majeski, Tyler Ankrum, and Connor Mosack rounded out the top ten.
Chaotic Start to the Roval Race
The race instantly descended into turmoil as the top three runners – Heim, Riggs, and Enfinger – collided in the first turn, all sustaining damage. All three were playoff contenders and required repairs, though a caution wasn’t initially issued. A subsequent crash by Ben Rhodes ultimately brought out the first caution,ending his race prematurely.
The opening stage saw further incidents, including mechanical issues for Parker Kligerman, a spin for Timmy Hill, and a loss of control for Chandler Smith in the final chicane. Most of the leading trucks chose to pit before the stage concluded, aiming to improve their track position, including Crews, who had controlled the pace.This strategy allowed Honeycutt to secure the stage 1 win, followed by Majeski and Ankrum. Stage 2 saw fewer cautions, though Kris Wright and Jake Garcia both spun independently, and Dawson Sutton went off track after contact with Timmy Hill. Andres Perez also experienced a broken axle, forcing him behind the wall.
Crews strategically conceded the stage 2 win to prioritize track position, allowing honeycutt to sweep both stages and gain valuable playoff points. Enfinger finished second in Stage 2, with Caruth in third.
Overtime Drama Secures Heim’s Historic Victory
Crews maintained the lead throughout the majority of the final stage.Though, incidents continued to unfold, with Josh Bilicki and Matt Crafton both spun out while running within the top five. Heim relentlessly pursued his teammate, Zilisch, and began to close the gap.
A late-race mechanical issue for Toni Breidinger, stalling her truck on the track, triggered an overtime situation. Crews, concerned about fuel consumption, made a pit stop, handing the lead to Heim. Zilisch restarted fifth with fresher tires, while Crews found himself in seventh. The restart was immediately chaotic, with trucks jostling for position. Honeycutt lost a top-five finish after being spun out, and several other drivers were caught in the melee.
A collision in the hairpin while battling for second cleared the way for Crews to move back into second place, but Heim had already established a significant lead and was well on his way to making history.
