USA specify entry rules for children and adolescents
After more than a year and a half, the USA will reopen its land and air borders to international visitors on November 8th. One of the prerequisites is a proven vaccination against the coronavirus. There are exceptions, however.

KIndians and adolescents are exempt from the obligation to provide proof of corona vaccination when entering the USA. “There is a uniform vaccination exemption for children under the age of 18,” said a senior US official on Monday, a few weeks before the US borders open to international travelers. He justified this with the fact that in many countries no corona vaccine is approved or available for minors.
Travelers from countries with a vaccination rate below ten percent are also exempt from the mandatory vaccination. This applies, among other things, to many African countries. However, regardless of their vaccination status, all travelers must have a negative coronavirus test. In the case of vaccinated persons, the test can be carried out within three days of entry, in the case of unvaccinated persons it must be carried out within one day.

The entry bans that have been in place for a year and a half have recently become increasingly controversial in the USA. The then President Donald Trump had imposed the restrictions in March 2020 because of the pandemic.
After taking office in January, Trump’s successor Joe Biden initially stuck to the entry bans, even when many EU states reopened their borders to US citizens. This caused increasing criticism in Europe and also in the USA.
