In his brightest hour, she was his most important anchor.

On Saturday afternoon Charles III. (74) officially crowned king at Westminster Abbey. At 1:02 p.m., the Archbishop of Canterbury put the Edwardian crown on his head in Westminster Abbey – a few minutes later his sweetheart Camilla (75) was also honored as the new queen.

She has lived through decades of ups and downs with her royal husband, was part of the fateful love triangle with Charles and Lady Diana († 36), was once the unpopular “Rottweiler” for the British people – now she is Camilla, the king’s wife!

Camilla always had Charles’s heart. And she won back the heart of the people with much patience and hard work – and thanks to the support of Queen Elizabeth II († 96).

Shortly before her death, on the occasion of her 70th jubilee, she expressed the wish that Camilla should one day bear the title “Queen Consort”.

The newly crowned heads lovingly bowed to each other, they smiled at each other, enjoyed the attention of the people. At her side, it seemed, the king could relax.

“Love. Whatever that means,” Charles once sighed in their first interview with Diana. Thanks to Camilla, Charles now knows what love is.

She gives him the strength he needs to master the great tasks of a flagging monarchy.

Delicate gold and silver embroidery with flowers (including daisies, forget-me-nots) symbolized the Queen’s closeness to nature. On the hem of the petticoat and on the sleeves were flowers of the four nations of the United Kingdom: rose (England), thistle (Scotland), daffodil (Wales), shamrock (Ireland).

Upon closer inspection, Camilla had a few names embroidered on her coronation dress – and two dogs.
