Hip-Hop Royalty Celebrates Grand Opening of COTE Korean Steakhouse in Las Vegas
A vibrant fusion of culinary excellence and entertainment has arrived on the Las Vegas Strip with the highly anticipated opening of COTE Korean Steakhouse at The venetian Resort. The exclusive event drew a constellation of hip-hop icons, solidifying COTE’s status as the newest hotspot for both foodies and music lovers.
Why did COTE open in Las Vegas? COTE Korean Steakhouse expanded too Las Vegas to capitalize on the city’s thriving entertainment and culinary scene, and to become a destination for both tourists and locals. Founder & CEO Simon Kim also expressed a personal connection to the city, where he began his hospitality career.
The arrival of COTE marks the latest expansion for the acclaimed Korean steakhouse, which already boasts successful locations in New York and Miami. Last weekend’s grand opening party saw performances and appearances from some of the biggest names in music, including Dr. Dre,Nas,N.O.R.E., and Mobb Deep’s Havoc.
Who attended the grand opening? The grand opening was attended by a who’s-who of hip-hop royalty, including Dr. Dre, Nas, N.O.R.E., Havoc of Mobb Deep, Anderson .Paak (as DJ Pee .Wee), Chloe Flower, and Steve Aoki. Patrick Nichols, President & CEO of The Venetian, and Simon Kim, COTE’s Founder & CEO, were also present.
Anderson .Paak,performing under his DJ moniker DJ Pee .Wee, delivered a dynamic set that energized the invite-only crowd. Despite forgoing K-pop or Korean tracks – and his recent collaboration with Mariah Carey, “Play This Song” – .Paak curated a playlist of classic hip-hop and R&B that had attendees,including Nas,Chloe Flower,and Steve Aoki,dancing alongside Vegas showgirls. “In the land of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. comes in the Korean flavor,” Nas proclaimed during a brief moment at the microphone.

For COTE Founder & CEO Simon Kim, the Las Vegas opening represents a deeply personal achievement. Having immigrated to the United States from Korea at the age of 13 with limited English proficiency, Kim described the opportunity to partner with The Venetian as “the true American dream.” He emphasized the significance of returning to Las Vegas, where he launched his hospitality career over two decades ago.
The Venetian Resort’s President & CEO, Patrick Nichols, echoed Kim’s enthusiasm, stating that COTE will “bring some real energy” to the Las Vegas Strip and enhance its already “bustling vibrancy.”
Guests at the launch event enjoyed signature cocktails, including a Chopin Vodka martini served from a dedicated cart, and sampled COTE’s soon-to-be-famous menu items, such as the Vegas-exclusive “BlackJack” A5 wagyu sandwich. The restaurant, designed by David Rockwell, features a stylish open-style bar with standing room and swank banquettes, alongside four private dining rooms, a private balcony, and a dedicated karaoke setup on the second floor. Kim envisions the Vegas location as more than just a restaurant, describing it as “a club and restaurant, where entertainment is there with pulsating energy.”
