Lungs of 207 patients were studied
In the study, tests were conducted on the lungs of 207 people. Patients who had mild or moderate and severe Covid were examined for complete lungs, six-minute walk test, blood test and their health was examined.
Major damage to lungs of 44 percent
The most sensitive lungs were tested. This is called gas transfer (DLCO). Through this the ability to take oxygen from the air is measured. Investigation found that the lungs of 44 percent people were damaged. According to doctors, it has been described as very worrying. Slightly less than 35 percent of patients had lung damage. 35% people had the problem of shrinking lungs. Due to which their lungs will not be able to fully expand while filling with air. The problem of blockage of air passages was found in 8.3% of the people, which would make it difficult for air to move into the lungs. Life test related tests also revealed negative effects.
Less harm to Chinese and Europeans
Many shocking things came to light in the investigation. Dr DJ Christopher, of the pulmonary department of CMS Vellore, told our associate newspaper Times of India that in every case, Indian patients fared worse than Chinese and European patients. Additionally, the number of Indians suffering from diabetes and hypertension was higher compared to Chinese and Europeans.
